Daisy Lane Veterinary Clinic

History
The planning for Daisy Lane began in 1981.  After looking at a number of locations, we decided that north Keystone was it.    The building was originally constructed as a bakery.  We basically started with an empty shell and designed our office to fit the 1000 square feet we had rented.  It was a fun and exciting time.   The economy was in the toilet, interest rates were 19% and we thought it was a good time to start a business.  Thank goodness for the exhuberance of youth.  No one would lend us any money, so finally a family member came to our rescue.  After lots of hard work, we were finally ready to open in June of 1982.

Of course we had to have an open house!

Soon after, we had a couple of kitties.  Andrew and Dudley were  a big help and a lot of fun too.  We've since never been without clinic kitties.

Over the next few years our business grew and by 1987 we knew we needed more  room.  It took a while to figure out the details, but in the end we decided on an addition that would double our size.  The addition was completed in fall of 1989 and we moved into our new expaned facilities. Unfortunately we didn't manage to take any pictures of the inside.

In the ensuing years, as our daughter grew up, computers became a part of everyone's work and private life.  We computerized the practice in 1991 and I have been the head computer geek ever since.  We couldn't imagine doing without them now, but at times it has been a bit of a chore.   It is hard to imagine the early days of computers but that is another story.  Life went on for all of us here until one day, the unthinkable happened!

On the evening of August 6, 2006 a fire started at the clinic and by the time the firemen arrived flames were shooting through the roof.  It was a tragedy for all of us.  Twenty four years of our lives were instantly destroyed.  I wouldn't wish that kind of nightmare on anyone.

Catastrophic elecrical fire they said.

A tribute to the Kitties.  Thanks Linda!
